Fedstar Credit Union is aware of the Equifax cyber security incident which may have potentially impacted approximately 143 million U.S. consumers. FedStar Credit Union reports credit related information on loans and credit cards to credit bureaus, including Equifax, as explained in Fedstar ’s Rules and Regulations and Privacy Notice. Equifax advises there is no evidence of unauthorized activity on Equifax’s core consumer or commercial credit reporting databases, which is where FedStar reports members’ credit data information. Please be assured that your information at FedStar Credit Union has not been compromised. This incident occurred solely at Equifax.
Equifax has established a dedicated website, www.equifaxsecurity2017.com
to help consumers determine if their information has been potentially impacted and to enable them to sign up for credit file monitoring and identity theft protection. The offering, called TrustedID Premier, includes 3-Bureau credit monitoring of Equifax, Experian and TransUnion credit reports, copies of Equifax credit reports, the ability to lock and unlock Equifax credit reports, identity theft insurance, and Internet scanning for Social Security numbers. These services are being provided free to U.S. consumers by Equifax for one year. Consumers interested in the TrustedID Premier services must sign up for the service at the website indicated above.
The website provides additional information on steps consumers can take to protect their personal information. Equifax recommends that consumers with additional questions visit www.equifaxsecurity2017.com or call Equifax’s dedicated contact center at 866-447-7559, which the company set up to assist consumers concerned about this issue. The call center is open every day (including weekends) from 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. eastern standard time.
In addition to the website, Equifax will send direct mail notices to consumers whose card numbers or dispute documents with personal identifying information were impacted. Equifax is also in the process of contacting U.S. state and federal regulators and has sent written notifications to all U.S. state attorneys general, which includes Equifax contact information for regulator inquiries.
Although your information at FedStar Credit Union has not been compromised, FedStar Credit Union will share additional information as we receive it with our valued members.

Third Party Payments
Just a reminder to all those members who have a payment sent to the credit union from a third party. Make sure that you the correct account number (either checking or savings) to make electronic deposits or withdrawals to your accounts. This way your deposits and payments will be posted promptly. Please review your monthly or quarterly statements or use our FREE Home Banking Module, Mobile Banking Apps or Online Bill Pay Features for activity updates. Sign up for Home Banking today, and you can access your accounts, view checks, make transfers and more. Home Banking, Mobile Banking and Online Bill Pay is free to members*. Fraud E-mail Phishing Activity Reported
NCUA Warns of Text Phishing Scam
ALEXANDRIA, Va. (Aug. 23, 2016) – The National Credit Union Administration has received consumer calls about a suspicious text message claiming to come from the agency.
The message reads: “National Credit Union Administration Alert for (recipient's phone number). Contact 844-234-5445.”
This is not a communication from NCUA. The agency does not seek personal information through the internet or on the telephone. Please contact NCUA's Consumer Assistance Center at 1-800-755-1030 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern if you receive one of these messages. NCUA also recommends contacting your credit union and local law enforcement.
You may also contact the Internet Crime Complaint Center, a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National White Collar Crime Center.
NCUA operates an online Fraud Prevention Center that offers information about avoiding frauds and scams on its MyCreditUnion.gov website.
If you suspect you may have become a victim of identity theft as a result of this scam, you should immediately contact the three major credit bureaus and request a fraud alert be placed on your credit report: Equifax (888-766-0008), Experian (888-397-3742), and TransUnion (855-681-3196).

the Quick Links menu will be available after logging in www.GoToMyCard.com . Members simply click on the link to take them to the Tools and Services page where they can change the paper statements option to E-statements and enter a valid email address. A confirmation will be sent to the email address of record! It's that easy!
